What should an 83 GT Pro have stamped on the frame to confirm its a Pro model?

The guy just said it had PR on bottom bracket which denotes Pro! $:-\$

Should have a 5 digit serial and a 4 stamped inside the rear drop out.

As above. Stamping should only be on dropout.

Try an get a pic of the whole frame inc. drop outs.

Shouldn't have any stamps on bb.

Be 99.9 % sure it's not an 83 GT Pro with serial no stamped on BB, serial no's on BB started with overseas production in 84.

May have mixed up JR and PR $:-\$

So depending on year 83/84 it could be right being serial stamped on B/B. Saying that he said it was US made!

Anyone got a link to a catalogue download. Can't find one on the museum.

Get him to tell you exactly where the serial number is. If it's on the reardrop it is US made and should not have anything stamped on the BB. Could it be a postcode type thing? JR is stamped on the reardrop of US made juniors, not sure jnrs were made overseas.

From what I understand it says 4 on dropout.
Serial number on B/B with PR stamped by it.

What should the TT measure?

As said condition but there's one on book now at 180 and a couple sold again on fbook for 200 each and maybe a touch more for a really good condition chrome one

Pay more for a good chrome one.

Don't buy a recoated one unless you really know the seller, I would apply this logic to any frame but GTs especially.

They are prone to the seat tube rusting from the inside out because there is no hole in the bottom bracket to allow water to drain or the seat tube to breath.

As one of if not the best race frame they often took a shocking beating and the drops are often splayed and badly repaired under new paint or powder.
