budget build update small things make you happy
« on: March 03, 2011, 12:36 PM »
bit long winded again fella's but keeps me out of trouble i suppose :daumenhoch:

ok so i started a budget build last year linkeroo below  if your interested,  funny when you read through posts you put up ages ago how much you think what a knooobedd did i realy write that    :LolLolLolLol:  here's a bit more useless drivel i'll no doubt i'll be embarresd about in the future  :-[  :LolLolLolLol:

original post

http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,111943.msg1095949.html#msg1095949

towards the end of the summer i knocked the f+f off the sideboard and chipped the paint   :tickedoff: lost me rag and lobbed it in the loft thinking fook it can't be arsed with it  POS anyhow   >:(  >:(

so between then and now i've not touched it  :-[    , i was routing through an old tool box in the outhouse the other day full of old rusty spanners nuts and bolts and bits of my Escorts from my boy racer phase ;D  in the bottom was a placcy bag with a headset, and a Gyro , result :daumenhoch:  must be of the last Sport i had gyro's a bit rusty but wiil clean up ok for a rider if ever i do freestylie ride again,      the real find was this lurking at the bottom of the bag

seatclamp cable stopper , " sure i wanted one of these for something i thought,,,,,,,? "  fook me the Mystery Machine  :daumenhoch:

so got her out the loft and done a bit more,   from the original post the budget is £50 tight but i reckon doable , ive bent the limit a little by allowing bits robbed from other purchases not related to this as it was originally a project to use up some spare bits.  might get  :police: intervention on that point?  :LolLolLolLol:

progress then

hanger cable stop thingymebob in place

decided to go for the skinny wheels , cleaned up little bit more , shiny sided the rims with tyres and tubes off a recent complete i bought   ;)  cant decide weather to colour all the writing in or not ? wilco specials delitire  :LolLolLolLol:

seat post off a pos toys r us freestyler, skip rescue about 10 years ago built it up for my young un to roll arround on one summer, been rusting in the outhouse ever since, gone on purely cos it fits the frame 25.4 mm old relic bummer size i think , if you've been through the original post you know this thing is a bit odd regarding the tubes on it so no surprise there,   bit of a rub down and a light polish  i don't think it looks to bad

seat off RAD member Brummie  :daumenhoch:  £8  bargain bit of rub down with emery  lobbed through the dishwasher long cycle ,
i had planned on using this on my Freeagent Eluder this summer was going to retro look it along with some new blue tuffs i got for my birthday blue and white color scheme for a rider for the summer but i think it will stay on here looks right i think?

gone for the Sugino stem  :daumenhoch: instead of of the Fusion,  bars are only temporary got some db ones in chrome to go on ,just waiting on the postie so i can swap em out off the race bike  ;)  :coolsmiley:,    although there are some alloy v bars in the pipeline , down to budget again on those as the crank set needs to be sorted

all looking good so far

got to say i bought this just cos i liked the look of it bit unusual ,  fell out with it big style last year spat the dummy out and chucked me teddies out the cot ,   a small thing can change the way you think and i have to say because of the small cable thingy doodah     i love the Mystery Machine again  :smitten:   for now  :LolLolLolLol: cash outlay so far £14   i think?    :police:?

EDIT........... forgot about new chain tensioners  :LolLolLolLol:      cash outlay £15

Was chatting with Rich Devilock about budget bikes earlier, remembered this which is still one of my favourite ever build threads

Really glad the thread and pics are still here   :4_17_5:

Jimbo do you still have this?

And is there a 'finished' thread somewhere?
