Charity ride in March
« on: January 23, 2015, 06:49 PM »
Okay, I want to do a charity ride in March. I've not sorted a date yet or even a town to ride round but I was wondering who fancies it?

As for the charity? Well today I heard about the superb work that one of our members does with badly treated animals and just how hard that can be.

I'm putting it out there with the hope we can get together for a few beers, bit riding and taking the piss but raise a bit of dosh for the animal shelter.

Ideally the venue needs to be pretty close to Bracknell if poss.

Any ideas??

I reckon it's the best bet near Bracknell if you want somewhere with stuff going on that might attract out-of-towners - plenty of touristy spots and nice views plus there are a few cycle paths around (Bracknell is surrounded by dual carriageways so not ideal tbh)

How far do you want to pedal?

There is Chest-Air on the 28th March - We could always turn that in to a charity bash :daumenhoch:

exchanged a few messages with Jay this morning

She's suggested Saturday 14th March, so we potentially have a date even if we don't have a route yet..

As far as route goes she said she'd love to bring some of her animals out to meet us at the finish or something and has a pub local to her/the rescue that would be cool about hosting it. Not sure how far you lot are prepared to ride but that would be a bit of a trek from Windsor (if you had to pedal back afterwards)

So how far are you prepared to ride lads?

10 miles?
15 miles?
20 miles?

Let's get some kind of consensus and we can get planning ASAP

I think 10-15 mile round trip is plenty on a bmx, with a few stops along the way  :daumenhoch:

That's fine with me - just don't want to put anyone off
If we can get a nice loop (or a start/finish with an easy train ride back) that would be cool
