Hiya.
I'm Michaela, I used to have a 1993 GT Vertigo when I was at university (little pointer to my age there...) then a mk1 DK General Lee. Then I had to sell up when I was poor
I've got a cromo Sunn Tzar mtb and bought myself a proper cromo DK General Lee 24" about four months ago. I think I might be in the throes of some kind of mid-life crisis because I'm looking for another early 90s S-bend GT (A Performer would be nice, a Pro Tour would be lovely!) There seem to be loads of Dynos for sale but not many GTs
Anyway, I'll stop rambling now.

I just bought a 1993 Performer on ebay!
It was a little more than I wanted to spend but the price now is around the same as it was back then, and back then I couldn't afford a Performer which is why I bought a Vertigo instead. Are Odyssey Pitbulls still as rubbish as they always were, or has the addition of rose-tinted spectacles made them work properly now?

Yep - Pitbulls are still as cack as they were back then. Better than Dia Compe Big Dogs though

I remember a thing in Ride mag around 1993-1994 about Weinmann centre pull brakes that were used on road bikes, so I got my local shop to order me one in and it was loads better than the Pitbull and half the price! I'd had the seat tube drilled on my Vertigo just above the BB shell so I could bolt it onto the chainstay bridge, which was also a 'how-to' feature in Ride back then I think. Then I got my LBS (M Steele in Whitley Bay) to braze on some U brake bosses. I keep looking around for a blue powder coated 1993 Vertigo with a U brake in the for sale ads and on Gumtree/ebay but I fear it's long since been crushed and melted down
I'm properly excited about this Performer, can you tell?!
