Looking good Dan  8)

Del does the 'Hutch' lettering for the side of the seat  ;)

How would I do that Joff, with the Kashi lettering already embossed on the sides? ???

Sorry Dan ....... only just seen this reply  :-[

I thought they were Kashi decals on the side mate , not the og embossed writing  ;)

..... so you can't  :D

Hutch is looking  :coolsmiley: mate .
WANTED : Old school BMX patches/sew on badges ......  please  :)

Thanks for the kind words guys, much appreciated.

So I've hit a few snags this week, when momentum had been moving along nicely.  :-[

The guy that I got the 7x copy rims from in Oz, who's been listing the rims for ages on eBay, has run out of silver, so after no joy with the wanted section on here, I decided to chat with Jay (Anodiser Chick) and she can strip a coloured set for me, and her guy will polish them up for me, so I've got a gold set going directly to Jay all the way from Oz.  :)

I also had no joy with a rear MX1000, so went for a copy, and the same story with grips, so went for NRP's, a shame really as I thought that a Hutch should at least be given some OG bits, but if they ain't there, then I'm not freezing a build to sit around and wait for them to show up.

I also didn't have a nice set of BB cups to shine up, only dulled ones. Fortunately, Andy (DTTDB) stepped in and sent me some through the post, thanks again Andy.  :4_17_5:

No probs Dan, hope they were alright for you. I do have another set (that you're welcome to also), with slightly thicker edges that will be more visible, but i'm not sure how well they would polish up... Let me know if you want them anyway..

The ones you've sent were polished up and fitted this evening Andy, they look great mate, thank you.  :4_17_5:

I also polished up the Suzue hubs tonight too, what with Jay getting my rims polished and blingy hubs, I'm feeling that I may need to go the whole hog and polish all 72 spokes now.  ::)

Today's jobs were polishing the seat guts and fitting the Kashi, fitting the headset, stem, bars and grips.

Polished up the NOS Suzue LF hubs that I bought off Snavman this time last year, and added the Hutch decals that I got off Miley, just for a custom feel.

Thanks lads, it's going to be a proper 'right down to the wire' build this, if I want it built in 3 weeks time for Chester.

If you're desperado Dan, I have a set of polished Araya 7x's 1.50's, chrome Suzue hubs, with Comp IV tyres on that you can use temporarily if needed.

No honestly Andy, if push comes to shove, I'll put my black shiny sides on, but thanks anyway Brother.  :4_17_5:

I'm actually waiting for the return of the power disc too. I decided that I'd like to polish it, to a mirror finish, so asked Joff's expert advice, turns out that it is already chrome plated, but I only realised this once I'd sent it to Joff, and he'd confirmed it. But Joff's kindly posted it to Niphos in Crewe, who will strip, polish and rechrome it, but it's whether they can return it to me in time for Chester.  :daumenhoch:

Fingers crossed Dan. Mine was a bitch to chrome - so much so that they had to give up after 3 attempts. It's now at Hockleys - we'll see if they can work their magic on it (but they've had it since mid December). Hope it arrives in time  :daumenhoch:

Update on this:

I got a message off Jay to say that she'd stripped and polished my gold rims, sadly the postman tried to deliver them while I was out, so I'm picking them up from the depot on the way to work, and dropping them off at my LBS with the spokes and hubs for lacing and truing.

On the plus side though, it's given me enough time to hand polish the 72 194mm Asahi stainless steel spokes....never again     Thumbs down

It's all my budget will allow mate, but where I've saved money on some bits, it's allowed me to spend a little more elsewhere, rechroming the power disc, for example.  :daumenhoch:

So I collected the rims this morning from the Royal Mail Depot and dropped them off at the bike shop.

I didn't even remove all the packaging that Jay had wrapped them in, but couldn't resist a few teaser shots.

The first pic is the listing shot from eBay.

Dan, I like what you are doing with this but most of all, I like the way you are keeping it 'real', if you get my drift. Most of us could never afford the real expensive parts back then and watching this come together is like when we built our bikes as kids  :daumenhoch:

Keep up the good work buddy. It will look just as good as a loaded Hutch but at a fraction of the cost  :coolsmiley:

It will be ready tomorrow Joff, so time will tell. All I know is, I'd they pull it off, then they'll be getting more work off the Northern RADsters.  :daumenhoch:
