There was a thread on here a while back.

Think it was done by Stidds about his pro class.

I'll have a look this evening for you, haven't got time now.

funnily enough I was looking at it at home on Saturday.

Where Stuey got his done there was 2 options (different processes & slightly different results I believe) , he took the browner more Burner option .

Guy (gmac) had some pipes on his LC done , they are black chrome (not brownish) .

I think Scary Leary done this too, but he just sprayed over chrome with a tinted laquer and it came out looking just as good, perhaps he will see  this thread and let us know  :daumenhoch:

I replicated the Mongoose Pro Class 'black chrome' finish by going to a local car spray paint manufacturer and asking for a tinted lacquer (brown tint).  I did a lot of research into the Pro Class finish and Mongoose never actually chemically 'black chormed' the Pro Class frame, they used a tinted lacquer.

I applied 8 light coats of the tinted lacquer until I had the desired finish.

This is why we are so RAD  :4_17_5:

so many people are prepared to try back garden science to get the resto just right , and then they tell everybody how to do it without worrying thet there secret has been revealed
so many replies sharing info and all of them good.

well done radsters you lot are well RAD and we are all lucky to be able to ask questions and actually get solid ( most of the time  :) )  answers

Rich :)

Too true Rich, I have no secrets with regards to restoring bikes.  I just hope the tips I can give will help others without having to go through all of the crap that I had to before getting it right.
