protecting chrome
« on: December 02, 2014, 07:41 PM »
Hi guys sorry if this has been asked before but hiw do you guys stop chrome rusting. I have to store my bikes in garages and in this cold weather the bikes end up with a condesation type effect on the chrome which in turn creates rust overtime if not cleaned often enough does anyone have any handy tips on keeping said moisture off im guessing covering them is gonna help  :uglystupid2:

There's a thread on here somewhere, but the short answer was no to covering - means the moisture gets trapped and settles on there

Yep I wipe chrome with a soft rag with 3in1 on it. Try to avoid stickers n decals. I have found after a few months you need to freshen it up a bit. Polishing chrome back up is a real pain but worth it in long run. Mine are covered over very very loosely with Cheapo pound shop motorcycle covers. Just allow air to move around them don't make it tight.

If you've got power in them garages why not fit a low energy rad (those ones for greenhouses) to take the edge off? And plonk a few moisture traps in there for good measure?

Hope it helps buddy.
