1983 Skyway TA
« on: November 26, 2014, 08:44 PM »
This is one of four builds I have going on right now and hope to get them all finished by Spring for riding, and some lovely sunshine shots too, as I hate the winter BIG time  :(

I have never owned a TA and never thought to owning one either. This was offered to me as you see it, original chrome and decals, and well, it's just how I like them really. A bit of history and still wearing the original clothing.

I have a lot of the parts I need right here, although I didn't know whether to use spokes or Tuff's but, have decided on the spokes after a little poll on FB.

The Frame and Fork...

Most parts will be good survivor condition but I am using a NOS first gen Beartrap II, as I want to keep it as era correct as possible...

Fitted...

I'm sure you can tell by the axle what cranks are going on this  :D  Original chrome, decals and 44T ring...

I'm going to use the blue Araya 7C's with HF Sunshine looseball hubs on this...

More to come when I get a chance guys  :daumenhoch:

F&F are in really good condition for a survivor. Nice project. I don't say this very often but some black tuffs might just look good on there.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to keep this to budget Ben so not buying anymore wheels. As for the low end build Bert, you need my Lotus Cobra build thread buddy  ;D

Thanks guys  :)

I have cleaned and fitted the tyres today, 2nd gen Tioga Comp III's. These sneak into 1983, replacing the much loved yellow labels, so are perfect, and in great rider shape  :daumenhoch:

Also, not sure what stem to use on it. I do like Tuf Neck stem's but seem to see them everywhere so thought the DK might look good on it ???

Any preference guys ???

DK for me.  I put a pro neck on mine as the tuf neck looked too chunky.......

I have a choice really of these, 3rd gen Profiles or 'retro' 2nd gen Profiles. I didn't want to use the 'retro' cranks and I thought the Profiles would look better on the Astron frame set  ;)
