I know we all love Raleigh Burners here, well I like them.

Remember a few kids round my way had the MK1 and always talking about if the Blue & yellow or the Red & Yellow combination was best!

I'm a bit 50/50 on this one , as i drooled over both colour combo's as a kid:). Especially with the yellow Tuffs on them , if i had to make the choice if i think the blue/yellow combo would just edge it out.

They sold them in 82, when they launched the range, then by late 83 when the phase 2 Mk1's were released, they had gone with the basic red/yellow model carrying on into the Mk2 range.

The grips and nylon/Velcro pads on the red one indicate that it's a phase II, Mk1.

It's a good question.....

Although plenty had the red personally I always preferred the blue and yellow one !
Maybe the cooler kids had the blue one Bitd ... You know how these things usually work

Despite my personal thoughts about them, they were very well marketed with great colour schemes - I think of the non-pro/aero ones the ultra burner had the best colours though

The Super Tuff gold and black was a stroke of genius IMHO.

I voted blue and yellow as this was the least offensive.

I hated burners, the bottom bracket was so high it looked like it was riding around with its arse in the air. I know that burners are a sub BMX species in their own right, but Raleigh did Grifters and nothing was going to beat that.

Thanks for the info about the phase 1/phase 2 spec. So what models were out during phase 1? Just the blue/yellow & red/yellow or were there others?
