A'me unitrons coming soon :)
« on: October 31, 2014, 10:11 AM »
As I'm sure some of you museum stalkers will know the Unitron is due for 're-release any day now. For the purist they are marked with an R to indicate they are new. Anyone know any more details re. amounts, stockists over here, colour ways etc?

Wouldn't mind a set for the Raleigh shock  :)
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

Probably won't be cheap if the re-release B1B's are anything to go by

Apparently they will be around the $30 mark Rob  :)

$29.95 rrp. They are available to order through Mark, the A'me rep on the museum fb page, but not sure on UK postage. Most colours will be available but I understand that a mass bulk of them will be going to Oz. If that is the case, expect them on your nearest ebay outlet for a 500% mark up  ;D

I'm sure if postage to UK isn't an option, Justin at porkchop might help out.  :daumenhoch:

Won't take long for someone to remove that R  ???
One build a year, the only way to get it right. No rushing involved.

Agreed. If they have to repop them they should have changed the font to the same as on new rounds or tris.

It depends how you like your grips John. The triangle cut outs you can feel big time. According to the A'me rep, these are softer than old ones so should be a bit better. The old ones are hard and I wouldn't personally ride them without gloves.

Oakley .5's are probably the best for longevity and comfort  :daumenhoch:

More repo crap that is totally crapping all over Old School BMX Scene.

You don't need to search out the old school parts anymore  :-\

Just click on Porkchop or one of the many new old school parts bmx sites and hey presto you can get what you need.

Where's the fun in that   "nono"

Not to mention the price crash of all the original parts that this repo crap causes.

No wonder the big boys got out a few years ago :teef:

Which prices have crashed then?

Can't say I've noticed stuff getting massively cheaper, maybe I'll be able to get another bike done then ;)

Not meaning to have a go BUT...

Reproduction parts have saved many a restoration and made the impossible, possible in many different areas and many different products not just BMX i.e. fridges, freezers, guitars, cars, motorbikes, stereos, the list is almost endless

You still need to search out parts but if you want to ride/use a vintage/old school/mid school bike now you can without ruining hundreds of pounds worth of tyres, grips, pedals, seats...

Yes, there are sites that sell new reproduction parts at competitive prices; halle-fcuking-lujah!

Fun?  There is still plenty of fun searching for old/era correct parts not that I would call it fun having spent 10 years looking for a seat and an ACE Racing frame...

There has been no price crash; total fallacy and an urban myth spread by those who are in it for the money not the "fun" as described

The big boys getting out; some have some are still in it just in the background, some had their circumstances change (marriage, children, jobs, divorce, etc) and yep, some sold out for big money for all of the aforementioned reasons and big money because people wanted to buy straight in and miss out on the "fun".
