But what is it?
« on: October 23, 2014, 04:30 PM »
My builder came across this frame whilst doing a barn conversion, I can find similar but nothing exact!

Don't think the forks are the genuine set!?

Any ideas guys? [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Looks like an RSJ racing  :)
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

The SMD prefix and 4-digit suffix, and the shape of the dropouts and stays suggests you have an S&M dirtbike.
However, the numbers are usually on the right hand side. Does yours have a platform around the seattube?

Yep, an actual barn find! Found in a barn conversion clearance in the Midlands UK.

Gave my builder £40 for it as i wanted a new frame for my lad!

He only picked it up because hes into Raleigh Burners and wanted the parts off it!

The forks are some horrible crappy cheap things in black. Any ideas where i can get some S&M 90s forks? (tried BMX museum but none of the guys want to ship to UK!?)

Think im gonna have to keep this 1, clean it up, see if Del can do me some decals for it then decide to build it or put it up on the wall!!!

Thanks for all the help guys 8)

Yep £40 is peanuts for that. 1 inch pitchforks/ditchforks pop up from time to time but to be honest, who had matching frame and forks in them days? Not many. Be nice to see a platform DB build up on here though, whatever you do with it.  :daumenhoch:

I went to collect a matching F&F for a fellow member a few weeks back. The guy who sold it was a scrap merchant and picked it up for free.... Amazing what people will throw away these days.  :idiot2:

There's a guy with a 98 performer frame that has what looks like a pair of ditch forks on.  He's been trying to get rid of it on Facebook for bloody ages.  I reckon he'd pretty much give it to you.  If only I could remember his name.......leave it with me.

In the days of the platform db, you rode what you had. Odd wheels, odd brakes, odd tyres, odd grips!
If you want it to be tiptop, then peregrine 48 wheels, probably some Haro kneesavers or similar, profile cranks, shimano dx pedals.

That is shocking. With Google just a touch away I'd never chuck anything without seeing what it might be first.!!
