Candy Apple
« on: August 22, 2006, 05:05 PM »
I'm contemplating my first build and was thinking of going for a candy apple finish for the f&f. Is candy apple powder or spray and can you have it in any colour? Also any ideas on cost for f&f and also anywhere in London/S.E. that you can recommend, or even anywhere else in the country that could do it through the post?

Cheers!

Mark

Candy colours and flake can be quite expensive probably more so than chrome.  I can dig out some details if you like.

Please mate. Always wanted a candy apple trickstar, even had one ordered once and went to pick it up from Superbike in Ilford and it was sat there on the floor while I was waiting to pay for it when some idiot went to pick it up by the frame and the forks fell out and put a nice big scratch on the down tube. The guy in the shop said there was nothing he could do so I walked away and lost my £50 deposit.

This aint gonna be a Hutch but I thought I'd mix my favourite frame with my favourite finish. ;)

No problem its a company in leeds, I originally got pricing on flake for my mountain bike but it came back at about £250 for F&F (alot of work does go into a flake finish).

I'll try and find it tonight!

paint, it takes 10 coats to get a nice even finish, alot stronger than powder but takes alot longer to do as i have to wait 2 weeks for all the coats to dry + rubbing compund & laquer, ive done a few bikes for my dads hells angels mates in the past, i'll post some pics later... forgot to mention i'll paint any colour you want

You can get a frame and forks candy coated  for £50 - £60 + vat...

Well that's what Romax UK charge in Teesside & Midas Touch over in Castleford quoted me...

Or what about enamel @ £60 + vat...  very tasty ;)

Try an alloy wheel refurb company, they normally do motorbike wheels in all types of coatings, so a bike frame should be no probs...

I paid £45 for my Trickstar in Candy Apple Red, it's in the Museum Forum, it's spot on.  :4_17_5:

Looking at Weston's DB I may get him to do my PK when I get some LG's, gonna go for Dark SE blue !!  :)
