Hello chaps,

41 year old from Maidstone, Kent here.  Not sat on a bike for nigh on 25 years but since the missus is nagging me to join her in some biking activity looks like I will be a BMX bandit again soon.

Looking at the classics that I couldn't afford back in the 80's (I had to make do with a Foxbat back in the day). No patience for a rebuild so probably going down the repro route...Skyway t/a, PKR etc.  Any advice would be more than welcome!

If you just fancy a trundle around then a repro TA or a ripper would be a great choice
No idea how tall you are but Pickle's just scored a lovely new ripper that looks the bollux and fits him too

Once you start pedalling it will all come flooding back and the next thing you know you'll be joining us on a Rideout or at MK 

Let us know how you get on mate and if you have any questions someone here is bound to know the answer

Yep that's the idea, just a bit of messing about in the park/woods/on the downs etc.  I am 5'11" and other than a spare tyre now, still pretty slim.  Leaning towards the Skyway at the moment....Alan's BMX are currently putting a custom spec together for me so I'll see how that comes out and go from there. Any other recommendations with a budget of around £700 welcome though

  Always wanted a Haro freestyler. Certainly an option. How do the new ones compare with old school?

If you want to sit and ride on it then a new school cruiser I would say is better.

I still like to role around on my Old School 20" and quite often would ride 10 miles or so along the coastline.

Would'nt mind one of them Retro 26" Cruisers myself.

Gone for a 2015 20" Ripper in the end, price played it's part and the non purist thing won't bother me too much. Will have the nasty pads off and swap a few bits out though.

I don't blame you, if I didn't have an 80s one already I'd be bloody tempted by it - for a complete bike they did a great job this time & the colours look gorgeous (hope Rob doesn't see this lol)

Agreed, looks lovely as is but will look even better when I whip the pads off and stick some blue comp 3's on

  thats what oldschool was all about swapping parts, that was half the fun,and now its easier to sell your old ones.
