......to drop off a rear Tuff 2 to have the coaster taken out so i can bleach the wheel. Anyway, got chatting to the owner and he said this woman dropped off her brother's(or maybe cousin's) old bike off to be cleaned up. Sadly the poor guy had recently lost his fight with the dreaded Cancer
, once the bike has been cleaned up it will be auctioned off(possibly on Ebay) to raise cash for a cancer charity. It turns out that the bike is in survivor condition, it's a chrome DP Firebird Freestyler frame with Tange trx forks(according to the shop owner) i know fook all regarding some parts.
The frame number was mid 300's, it has some rust and pitting and looks as if someone has attempted to hacksaw to seatpost tube down at some point but gave up. It has some red dia compe brakeset on it either 900 or 1000's, some black alloy hubbed tuffs(rear is bolt on hub), the rest is pretty much a mix up off average parts. I'm looking for some advice from you guy's on this, would it be best to leave as is and put it up on Ebay?, give it a gentle clean and then put it up on Ebay?Or strip it down and sell the frame, brake set and Tuffs separately on Ebay?
What do you guy's think would be the best way to maximize cash on this bike for the cancer charity? I am purely asking for advice on this matter to help the owner of the bike shop as to what would be the best route to help this lady out.
Thanks in advance fella's for any suggestions you may have
