Viceroy restoration (now finished)
« on: September 07, 2014, 07:51 PM »
Hi, I am restoring (my first build) an old 83 Viceroy which was my first bmx as a kid before moving onto a Mongoose and Burner, so I had to restore one, after months of searching I came across one. To re-chrome was to costly so had it blasted and powdered white with everything else sprayed blue as original, blue decals, just waiting on front logo decal.
I have tried to keep most of the original parts,ie crank, chain ring, pedals, bars, seat and seat post & seat clamp, stem and bolts.
I know the bike never came with skyways but it's what I had put on as a kid, so gone for the same look even though these are new skyways, complete with nos comp 3 tyres, pictures below are before and during, rest to follow next weekend afrer completion hopefully  :)

Before

During

I like Viceroys, they are regarded as a bit shit but back in the day I had a shitty WMX and I really liked the chrome Viceroy and really wanted one.
Yours looks pretty cool by the way :4_17_5:

my first bmx was a viceroy too but oddly mine was a looptail, all the viceroys that crop up(and there hasn't been many) have been non loopys.i was given one the same as yours about three years ago but sold it on in the end as it wasn't a loopy,it cost £99 from Halfords for crimbo 83
Arsenal FC not Arsene FC

I'm glad you mentioned the loopy thing - I thought I was cracking up as I always thought mine was a loopy as well........

This has been my first resto which I enjoy, hopefully you like the end result.
Next project on the way back from superbike Dan a mk2 Raleigh ultra burner.

That looks the business mate, a great first resto.

All I'd do with that, is back off the seat guts and knock the seat nose up a touch, and I'd definitely treat it to a padset eventually.
