Ok guys i tried to polish this there about half an hour ago,it seems anything i try to polish i get we marks on it as there is like a slight blurr, all wee speckles all in a clump thats the best i can describe it,how can i get this to a mirror finish, and what is the best way to get the polish from in around the lettering.here is some pics you might not see the wee clumps am on about.the first pic is basically the colour it was before i started etc i know some of the wee mark in the pics is in the metal but its other marks on it that bothers me.

You will never get a flat high polish on that while it still has the "orange peel" original casting finish. You would need to sand it out with various courses of wet and dry before you think about polishing.
All of which would be a shame in my opinion, it will only have those cast marks once

That's probably the best finish you'll get polishing by hand.

Use lime powder (ebay) that's great for getting the polish residue out of the casting & lettering
Think talc does a similar thing, but i may have just made that up
Can't hurt to try it

I used both and even gave it a good sanding through the grades
