I was wondering if you can convert this as in the title, i would rather use an ordinary stem rather than the stem for 1 1/8 forks am not so worried about the threading at the top of the forks or would the forks fall out other wise? If you can have you guys got links and pics of all the parts that i would need to do it....coz you guys know all the knowledge of the resto game than what i do  :laugh:Cheers

Hi Graham.

If your headtube is standard 1 1/8 and doesn't have integrated cups, you can use a standard 1" headset and fit shims onto the cups prior to insertion. There are few places on Ebay selling the shims buddy  :daumenhoch:

i dont think there's a way to use a normal quil stem on 1 1/8 forks, it can be done the other way around though. it's also possible to use 1" forks on an 1 1/8 frame as long as the frame is'nt an internal headset type.

Hi Graham,  got some of them shims somewhere got em to try something out & you bang em in then fit a 1"headset .
The forks & stem went straight on fine, just didn't like the look so didn't go with it  :daumenhoch:
WANTED : 1" freestyle forks, uglier the better
