Mongoose Wire wheel build
« on: August 10, 2014, 08:09 PM »
Evening , hope you are all well...

I've had a bit of a break from building bikes and now I'm ready to get back into
It again . Although I flogged most of my parts I stashed away a frame and fork set. It's going to be blue and chrome like I had bitd but may stick with black comp 3's rather then blue but we shall see.

Chrome on the top tube is faded and flaking In the gusset but the bb and dropouts are in good nick.

Low spec i know but It's what bmx means to me...

Pedals arrived this morning ...spindles all siezed up and a fair bit of rust...

Thought about doing an oa bath but decided to strip, soak in wd40, wash them and then scrub with wire wool. Didn't come out too bad..

Gave the spindles and pedals some autosol.

Polished up pretty good...greased all the bearings and out back together.

Put them on my crank and the blooming things are 1/2 not 9/16 Spindles... Arrggggghhhhh message sent to seller as not as described.

I've had a bmx day today ...brake arms arrived this afternoon . I was thinking of stripping the anno but I just haven't  the heart to do it...keep as a survivor. White came off the mx and the bean decal was lifted so I swapped that. 83 stamped 1000's

It's getting there...

Well after umming and arhhing for a few hours I decided to strip the blue on my dc arms. My lever is chrome and my OCD got the better of me.

Just need to sort the adjuster out...

Cheers John...that I do mate. This is my 4th build but only three frames in total..2 x chrome and 1 blue. Went through that stage of flogging all my bits but saved this one (and kept a couple of parts as well).

Got the bug again now... :)
