What F/F-set could this be...?
« on: December 19, 2014, 02:04 PM »
Hi folks,

I'm trying to find the name of a F/F-set I've bought a few weeks ago on eBay  ???

As you can see it has a double top tube and special shaped rear drop outs.
Thought it could be an "Aeros Ace" but the rear drop outs seems to differ from that  :-\
I think that the decal on the down tube ist wrong because this is definitely not a SE-Bike  ;)

Frame and fork are very light and because of the welds it seems to be full chromoly.
In addition I have to say that the down tube of the frame and the fork is aero-shaped (oval cross-section).

Is there anybody out there who can give a hint?  "help"

Many thanks in advance!

Wow, great guys - thx for Your help  :daumenhoch:

Regarding the photos on bmxmuseum I'm not sure about the "Aero Foxbat"...  :chin:

As You can see in the following photo of a Aero Foxbat (1984) it has a cross-beam behind the bottom bracket - but my frame has not:

Same on the following Foxbat's (also 1984):

And the shape of the rear drop outs seems to look different - more straight and not so curved:

Maybe it could be an "Aero Pro Foxbat" like this one (hard to see):

But I've found a photo of a Pro Foxbat; but it also looks different in my eyes:

Now I've found much more bikes with nearly the same frame...  >:(

Like the 1985 Nova Freestyle:

The 1986 Supercycle Bobcat:

And the 1986 Jetter Freestyle:

Aaaarrgghhh,....  :crazy2:

For me particularly the rear drop ends always looks different to the frame I have - or am I wrong?  :idiot2:

Here's another photo of an "Aeros Ace":

This one hasn't the cross-beam behind the bottom bracket, too.
But the front drop outs at the fork looks completely different... :tickedoff:

sure, vague chance :-[ ,,,,,,but anyway :D

close-up of the fx747 ad taken from here http://www.bmxsociety.com/topic/27712-is-this-a-kuwahara/page-2#entry237838

....so hard to see... .....maybe we need the original magazine, better scan. ..... :slayer:

how do you know there's a cross-beam on the bike in the ad? ??? Cuz of course you can't conclude from seeing a cross-brace between the stays on a Foxbat with different dropouts that a Bat with maybe other/your style drops would also have such a brace.

((just for the record
serial on your mystery bike                J3107158

serial on a foxbat                             J8462231   (daz125's)
(->http://www.raleighburner.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php't=37258&sid=c8e1923b9a106206db2778ab353f4331) ))

@ fischflo

Very interesting hint relating to the serial...
In fact both numbers starting with a "J"

Regarding the linked photos of the Foxbat I've seen that the cross-brace behind the bottom bracket is also missing!

But
1) the serial is under the bottom bracket; the serial on my frame is at the rear drop out
2) the rear drop outs are definitely different.

Here is a close up of the rear drop outs of my frame:

And now the rear drop outs of the linked Foxbat:

As You can see the Foxbat has a real straight upper edge.
The rear drop outs of my frame are more curved and definitely not straight!

Maybe because of the year of construction (my probably 1983, the Foxbat probably 1984)?

By the way:
The owner of the linked Foxbat isn't really sure that his F/F-set is a Foxbat!  :(
