Akron BMX Grips

Ok, has anybody ever seen any of these before?

I have seen Khaled has posted up some pics of a black and white pair he located a while back, and i have seen pics of a couple of other pairs of black and white ones whilst scouring the net, but this is the only set of blue and white ones i've found anywhere. As soon as I saw them i snaffled them as i absolutely love the way they look! (...am sure not to the taste of everybody, but hey-ho...) I'm not too bothered about using parts that aren't considered 'accepted' as i quite like something a little different, even if they might be considered a bit low-end by some.

Turns out that now they have arrived they are minty-mint. After a quick soak in soapy water (with a splash of bleach) they have come up spanky new. The ends are completely unmarked  :daumenhoch:

They are made of two different sorts of rubber by the feel of them, and the raised white bits are super-squidgy. They feel great! I also love the star on the very ends (see pics of the black and white examples i found online).

If anybody has any info on them, or even better has a black and white set going then please let me know!

After much scouring of the net I've finally located a black and white set as well. (I've seen a pic of a pink and white set also). Still got very little info on these....

Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

Yeah - all I have found so far is an advert for Akron BMX seats from '83. I've seen a few for sale and they look a bit like Uni items. The grips have stumped me though, but I love 'em!   :coolsmiley:
