Starchem Synstrip - Did not work ?????

Got hold of some of this but it did'nt work. It removed most of paint but not all

Any ideas?

Depending on your paint, it can take anywhere between minutes and days though! it does lose its strength once you have applied it, so keep adding fresh.

try industrial rubber gloves and a cource wire wool,

you can also brush it on and cover with a bin liner and leave over night

i should have been able to give the wire wool tips, after all the advice i've been given with dx stripping

This did work better. I was just under the impression the paint would fall off.

Would this method work with Powder Coat as I know Nitromores doesn't.

Mmmm that looks good.

Would Gasket remover remove normal paint too.

i guess it would, and from what i found/read on here it's also safe on alloy...?
But it seems to very agressive, f.ex so much the fumes seems to take the colour off the wall, as 2020mad said..
So guess i'd stick to Synstrip for normal paint

i too thought the paint would jump right off  -
Rex wrote he leves stripper on for like half an hour and then works the copper brush.
With leaving it on too long there seems to be an issue with alloy getting a tint ..... so rather a few times/applications, and more effect if you cover the piece, liek Sawz said, or put it in a plastic bag, like Jim oldtired wrote.

Gasket remover works, but if Synstrip hasn't it probably won't shift the paint/powder as well.

Totally safe to use on alloy btw. One can will do a F&F plus a little bit extra.

If the paints stubborn, as has been said rough it up a bit first with sandpaper/course wire wool and schlep the stripper on. Leave for a while then come back and see if it's worked, if not schlep more on and repeat.
