New project to keep me busy.
« on: June 08, 2014, 07:35 PM »
So last weekend I picked up my latest project. I have always wanted to build a Prime Time and managed to pick this one up off of Russ. Frame, Fork and Bars all in survivor condition. The plan is to build it up with as many Boss bits as possible, and then mix it up with some Crupi, Odyssey, and Kovachie parts (none of which I have  :LolLolLolLol:)

Anyway, here are the pics. The bars have been trimmed down so I have cut some extensions that I will weld on later this week.

If anyone has some Boss cranks or a Boss Stem for sale please let me know!

Lovely stuff 'post b-day boy'  :daumenhoch:

Near on indestructible Boss were - with bloomin' lovely geo to match. Weren't they welded up by B&E (or was it Elf back in the 1" days)?.

Never a fan of the ladder bars (only in my very, very humble opinion), if you're gonna go more than 4 piece, go Standard   ;)

Yea they were great bikes. I must be honest, Im not too clued up on Boss company history. I was under the impression they always made their own bikes though, as well as bikes for Patterson in the 80's and DK in the 90's. You can definitely see DNA like the head tubes and seat stay junctions run through all three brands.  :daumenhoch:

Im with you on the ladder bars, and I never lusted for a pair at any stage. You cant build a prime time without them though, it just wouldnt feel right.  :LolLolLolLol:

You sure know how to pick 'em Jon. That's going to make an awesome build. I've never ridden a boss, have you? What's the angles and lengths and stuff?

Hey Ben
I have ridden one and to be honest they feel a lot shorter than they really are. The Prime Time has a 22 inch top tube but because of the slack seat angle the BB is pushed forward, making it ride more like a 21. Still feels nice, but doesn't feel as long as it looks. My Hyper metro XL has a similar top tube but feels super long because the BB sits further back.  :daumenhoch:

Prime Time's look mean though, and if you build them with a low front end and seat they look crazy long. Thats how I plan to build this one.

Yeah, I get where you're coming from, like an extra long CW might have been. Some black rims should look good on it  :daumenhoch:

Im 6,1 and I can understand why it felt like a tank for you. A BB that sits almost between the wheels, and a super long wheel base dont exactly make these bikes nimble. If you can put the power down though they will go real fast in a strait line.  :LolLolLolLol:

Awesome Boss... History wise, they were started in the early 80's by Carlo Lucia..He's the master welder and designer of the Boss and L&S Creation fame, but was also involved in the Panda frames and Pattersons..All serious race pedigree..
Look forward to seeing this one built... :daumenhoch:
