fork crown repair

I received some forks some time ago with a worn crown race seat.

Firstly I machined off the rest of the seat (see pic 2) , leaving a slight lip for the new one to sit on.


The seat was then machined, (see pics 1 and 2)


Step three heat the seat up slightly and drop into place


Step 4 TIG weld into position,  Jobs a good un

Thanks for the kind words guys , turning off the old seat is a bit scary as the forks are spinning at 800rpm out of the chuck 

Not a job I like doing, but worth it

would have been well out of balance
