Builds you did / are doing for your kids :-)
« on: May 09, 2014, 12:40 PM »
Since getting back into BMX in 2009 I've built a few bikes ... but the ones I have had the most fun with have been the ones I did for my kids. In fact, without my kids wanting bikes to ride I don't think I would have connected again  :daumenhoch: Thanks kids  :slayer:

My approach to kid bike building has always been fun ... and cheap ... but it usually gets out of hand. I'm just finishing my 3rd kid bike build now ... just working on the wheels  8) in my experience its just a fun thing ... no need to be anal on parts ... get busy with the rattle cans ... get the kids involved ... build them the coolest bike going  8)

Here's the one I had the most fun with ... heavily inspired by a Nomora I saw in Classic BMX mag ... so I did my own version  :)

So lets see any builds you have done for the youth  :daumenhoch:

Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

I built this for our ex Foster child Declan and gave it to him for Christmas, when he was with us he started racing and has carried on since moving to his new carers.  However he had a really heavy Argos bike, so I put this together so he could really take the sport up.

He called me just after Christmas to tell me that he had won his first ever race, so pleased for him.

I bought this off here with a view to replacing Mrs S G's lad's Dyno Blaze with a decent race bike.

On his Dyno Blaze.

After a little bit of love this is what it turned out like.

The colour was his choice, obviously!

Good of you to do this and nice to know how much it benefited him to his first race win.  :)
