Was wondering if anybody has done this.

I bought a handlebar pad from states and seller described it as very lightly faded but when it's turned up it has a big faded line across the pad which is black, I would say it's very faded and very noticeable.
When I saw the pad for sale and the price of it I thought it was too good to be true.

Been told the pad may shrink if dyed cos it needs to go in hot water and would the print on the pad itself be coloured with the dye aswell,

Any info would be helpful

what pad is it? I would be VERY careful about trying to dye it.

1. The dye may not take to the material and stain the logo/print beyond repair.

2. The logo/print may lift off the pad. (I stupidly put a skyway T/A bar pad in the washing machine and the whole print lifted. Result = pad ruined).

If it's black, you could: Get some Tamiya acrylic paint and go over all the black parts. It doesn't run when it rains/ gets wet (I've tried it).

The writing on these Falcon Pro pads was very faded when I got them, so i carefully went over the writing in blue acryllic, and they look like new.

i tried it on a nos set of ammaco pads in yellow, tried dying them black. completely fooked the print on them, you could still see the logo but it made it very dark. i ended up buying t shirt transfer paper and reprinting them myself. best bet would be to try the paint suggested by dancetothedrummersbeat, they look like they turned out really good. i would think you need a steady hand and patience for it though.

It took about an hour and a half to do both sides of the frame pad, and the bar pad.

this is how mine looked after dying, notice it didn't dye the stitching too well.

this is after using tshirt transfer paper ironed over the top of it.

You could ask Del to make some die cut decals and stick them onto a new black pad, or go for the paint option like I suggested. Looking at the state of the pad, I would suggest the die cut decal option.
