New Members - How To Navigate The Forum?
« on: April 25, 2014, 07:35 PM »
Right guys, and any lurkers that are finding it all a bit scary to get involved.

Firstly,  :welcome to  :radbmxsmilie: from all the Admin and Moderating Team.

Ok, I'll take you back to 2008, I registered on RAD, but didnt start posting, and getting involved in any topics or banter until 2011. This was all because I couldn't fathom out how to use the forum properly.   :idiot2:

Now, I'm guessing a lot of you are like me at the time and are thinking, fook it, I can't be arsed, or you may feel a bit daft asking basic questions? Well DON'T!!

Me and the guys are here, along with a lot of established and knowledgable members that will be only too happy to help point you in the right direction to help you get involved and more importantly, get the best out of the forum.

The forum itself is in my opinion a lot easier to navigate in it's current format. It's easy if you, have a particular era or 'school' that you are particularly interested in, or if you're a racer or a Freestylist?

The main forum page has its categories and sub categories, it's easy to view the topics from there.

Now, this is a good tip that I missed for months.

Near the top of the page below your Welcome Username message is, there are 2 options:

Show Unread Posts Since Last Visit this will allow you to see if any new topics have been started since you last logged in, without trawling through the entire forum.

and,

Show New Replies To Your Posts[\b]

This will allow you do see if someone's posted in a thread after you, again without looking through the whole forum.

These are the only 2 options I select when logging on.

Hopefully, this will help some of you.

But remember, there's no such thing as a daft question on here, so if in doubt, ask.

Great tip Dan. I always click unread posts since last visit first after logging on.
The other tip I would give is get involved, read the stickies, and if you are here to buy, sell, trade etc. get your site supporters tag. Then set you personal messages to also go to your email, then you won't miss anything.
The £10 site supporters tag is a small price to pay for dealing with fellow members, rather than random strangers on Facebook.

I want to start a post of random pics of BMX's I happen upon working in Southend. I hope for some of the more expert radsters to help identify them, drool over them, spark memories and debate hopefully ending up with a rich interesting forum for everyone to add to.

Where do I start this post please? I got 2 bikes in today par for the course!
Cheers

Try BMX chat  :daumenhoch:
Just to warn you in advance though, the thread will probably get derailed fairly early on and head off in an entirely different direction :teef:

To use the for sale and wanted sections you need to puchase a site supporter tag... only a tenner a year.
