Maybe it's the lack of disposable income for lots or the fact that every make/model/colour combo has pretty much been done, and done again and then some. People look for different things to keep the fire alight after they've built everything they wanted.

Nothing wrong with these bikes really, they seem to have stood the test of time as they're still around now. ( above) Mind you saying that i can't remember the last time i saw a Viceroy or a halfords bmx.
