My 1983 Mongoose Supergoose
« on: March 31, 2014, 02:53 PM »
This is my 1983 Mongoose Supergoose (Pro Class stickers)

A little bit of background to this bike.

A friend of mine built it up. I just obviously paid for it. I wont be doing anything to it except for putting on the original Supergoose stickers at a later stage. He spent a lot of time and money into building this bike.

This bike was standing in a garage for a long time and giving me sleepless nights. I used to have one in the late 90s and wanted to always own one again. After much thinking and scraping cash together I decided to just close my eyes and buy it.

Here is the parts list.

Frame & Fork: 1983 Mongoose Supergoose

Bars: Mongoose Pro Class stamped bars.

Stem: Pro Class stem

Grips: White Mongoose repro

Brake levers: Dia Compe Tech 2

Brake calipers: MX1000

Rims: Pro Class Aluminium pierced with Shimano hubs and Shimano freewheel.

Cranks: Mongoose 175 one piece cranks.

Pedals: ACS Stoker pedals

Spider: Mongoose Pro Class power disc

Seat: Kashimax Aero.

Seat clamp: Dia Compe copy that is original to the bike.

Seatpost: Mongoose.

Pads: 80s Mongoose pads in blue.

Decals / Stickers: Pro Class (but will be changed in due time)

Nice bike mate, these are great all-round oldschool riders.... I've still got one for everyday use and I love it. I was out in the park with my kids only this weekend :daumenhoch:

Proclass bars and Ace bars are the only bars that Tech2's work on
Still limping......

Chris - I use washing up liquid and a fairly harsh nail scrubbing brush mate. Grips come up a treat :daumenhoch:

I had some white Bubble fonts that never came up white - more off white and i tried everything...

I'm currently massaging vaseline into a Comp 2, its quite enjoyable (apart from the one finger typing...)

Hi guys,

Just thought I would update this thread on what I decided regarding this build.

I just pulled the Pro class stickers and applied the Supergoose ones. Added a white seat clamp and white chain. I removed the front brakes.

Well here are the results. I will upload the complete project to the bikes section once I am happy.
