Would you ride this Trickstar?
« on: March 24, 2014, 09:29 PM »
Been toying with an "authentic" shed find survivor build for some time using balding tyres, the lot.
Got a nice little parcel from Richard (chubby) today :daumenhoch: containing one of Daves ace Zeronine t shirts and a load of spare stickers he had which have now got me thinking about it again.
Finding a suitable and interesting frame was always going to be tricky but it has just dawned on me that my long suffering trickstar 2 (which i always intended to get repaired) may be just the frame i am after  :D

Both chainstays have had at least 2 welds bitd and one of the top tubes has had a crack welded too, near the front brace.

As tatty as it looks its a period, dad, sort of repair right down to the little fins welded under the chainstays in an attempt to strengthen them. I reckon with the two tone Hutch Ogk's Pickle was selling last year and a few "poorly placed" stickers from a young nephew  :LolLolLolLol: i could pull of a convincing build.

Question is, ramps and tricks aside would you be happy rolling round on it with such damage?  :-\
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

I'd ride it but then I'm petite & slender.

You however are shall we say 'chunky', I reckon those chain stays would explode if you sat on the thing.

These frames are great until you look at the rear drops, when I looked at mine I did kinda wonder what had gone on in the design process. It felt to me like they'd designed something different and then realised "fook where do you fix the rear wheel!?"

I certainly wouldn't ride it as is, looks like it would fold just dropping off a curb.

Fix it Clint... If only to wind up the haters  :LolLolLolLol:

Do it & see clint, if it breaks again you've lost nowt anyway. Just rolling about on it wouldn't make it fall apart in a catastrophic way so you shouldn't end up face down in the dirt  :daumenhoch:

Right this build is on! got most of the parts needed already but some well worn/ bald freestyle tyres wouldn't go a miss if anyone has some  ;)

The list of things I wouldn't ride is quite small.

This would be on it.
