dc straight levers brake resto ...question
« on: March 24, 2014, 09:27 PM »
......so i finally managed to get two straight dia compe levers for me bike. Well not both dc, but practically the same, one is no name but you hardly can tell the diffrence.... so thinking i can pop em to my 1984 cw bike then.

Question - i'll have to paint em both black. Do i just spray em like that or do i take em apart before? Taking em apart would require replacing the 'bolt' that holds the actual lever and its case together. What you say?

You can get a nice result without splitting the lever parts, but it's tricky. For a proper pukka job I'd say split em  :daumenhoch:

So anyone have any experience with the rebolting job ? .......... is it an easy one, or do you need special tools for it? and where'd ya get the replacement bolts then? don't think i've seen them ever anywhere...! ???

In my experience paint can get everywher the eye can see and then some, usualy to the detrement. do a couple of coats, moving the lever each time, and i reckon the jobs a goodun. if not you can always strip them, before any drastic splittage.
I want to touch ORB
