This build has been almost 4 years in the making. I bought this frame & forks on ebay 3 years ago. It's a bit of a strange one, as it has a 123 serial number which indicates it's an 84/85 frame, although it has some details that suggest it may not be US made, and could be Taiwanese. I won't bore you with all the details, but for those interested have a look on hutchbmx on this page
http://www.hutchbmx.be/identification1.html -Mine has all the characteristics of the 'unknown pro racer'.
I bought a set of 1st gen pro racer bars but they had been cut down, so I got the chrome stripped and sent them to Phil (Sawzall), who did a fantastic job of extending them to their correct width.
Other parts were acquired slowly as funds allowed, as I had other builds on the go. It's a mix of original and repop parts. I still need to get hold of a Hutch stem, but i'll get that in due course. I just wanted to get this finished before I lost heart with it.
Special thanks go out to Phil (Sawzall) for his work on the bars and forks, Del for the decals, Lenny (Badbaldie) for advising me to go to Leigh Metal Polishers for the re-chroming. Thanks also to Discostu for his advice on fitting the Aerospeed cranks, and to Ant (Factory Pilot) in helping me out in getting the BB fitted. Thanks to Spen for the Hutch stamped Tange headset top nut. Also a massive thank you to Joff (Norty40) for stripping and polishing the rear rim, and for selling me the front one for a bargain price. Thanks Joff!
