Newbieee Manchester UK
« on: January 26, 2014, 11:45 PM »
HEY EVERYONE...

I HAVE BEEN IN THE bmx RESTORATION GAME FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS...Mid-life crises being 40+ yrs of age, building up my collection and still going.

So far we have a:
1983 DIAMONDBACK VIPER - All original, factory spec except for tires.
1983 RALEIGH BURNER - Custom for my good lady
1982 RAELIGH TUFF BURNER - Factory spec, restored with love.
1979 MONGOOSE MOTOMAG - Collecting parts to bring to factory specification......nearly there

So for the moment, I will be on here searching for a couple of MOTOMAG PARTS and I will be sourcing bits for my next project being the ELLIOT Bike in ET (Not the replica build).

Regards to everyone

Andy

very happy NORTY40  ;D ;D ;D

Don't be fooled by the MONGOOSE as I was...yes it was an ebay buy, but having not done my research, this bike was one big rip off and I fell for the bull"%& story that went with it..big EXPENSIVE MISTAKE :-[

It was advertised as all original, never been ridden, some story about owner being from the MONGOOSE factory, big collector etc...the seller claimed to know nothing about the motomag OG parts as he was no expert, so legally he is not to blame for a fool like me buying it at the price he got it!!!!!!
Anyway, the frame and forks are genuine Nov 79, the seat is genuine, the grips are genuine, the OPC is 79 stamped genuine, the pedals are genuine, the rest...is one big put together mish mash of other bikes.

The sugino snowflake is not MOTOMAG spec, the BB, HEADSET, WHEELS, TIRES, SEAT POST, SEATPOST CLAMP, CALIPER AND LEVER, DECALS, STEM, HANDLEBARS and pretty much anything else is none MOTOMAG spec, so this did not come from the Mongoose factory, it has been tinkered with. The frame has been powdercoated, so not even original paint.

Its my mistake...but watch these threads, because I have nearly accumulated all the original 1979 MOTOMAG factory spec parts, and I will be restoring her to her original glory, then I shall the nuts off her 35 year old asssssss :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley:

im from manchester, unfortunately youve missed a regular oldschool meet that we uswd to have in bones, in stockport, just round the corner from you. probably for the best though, it was mainly old men falling off bikes on ramps and hurting themselves.

deffo get to radchester in august.
