ID required - 80's frame
« on: February 23, 2014, 09:04 PM »
Hi,
If this is the wrong section please let me know, I couldn't see where else to post it!
This has been in my old man's shed since the mid/ late 80's, I found it when I had a clear out. I vaguely remember it, I used to ride freestyle but I preferred race frames because they were lighter, but I do remember the crack on the down tube!
On one drop out it has a 7 figure frame number, on the other it has "GO783", it has no other stampings on it. It is also really light.
Anyway, just looking if anyone knows what it is?
Cheers!

G is for giant, a frame maker for schwinn, and some low ond kuwi's

if it has aero tubing on the downtube its likely a predator, if its round its the lower budget "qualifier" p2200 or similar

Doh! Apologies, yes oval not aero and only on the down tube,
Falcon rings a bell, I think I didn't ride it very long before it cracked...

mine doesnt have the g serial number, and mine is round tubing, not oval.

basically that frame is a "swiss army knife " type frame, used by a lot of makers, with many slight variations ie serial, forks, brakebridge etc.
Alot of the falcon have a little brace on the hadtube/downtube, which sets them apart. they also have the g serial number on th rear drops.

It will have been made by giant, but who clothed it in their stickers may be a mystery forever.

Thanks, didn't know if the few missing pages 3 and 4 or that broken page 10 pic contained anything relevant -probably not. VADER on museum's got a complete one, incase anybody's ocd urges them to find out (http://bmxmuseum.com/user/23046).

That Manty-Ray could make use of our new 2 years flexibility either side to accommodate exceptions approach. :smitten:
