A 1980 build, are they popular and well liked ? who likes them who doesn't and for what reasons , BS dirt skirt not the later SST version

I have them on 3 of my old school race bikes, although, cutting an innertube piece and fitting over the bottom part of the headset when building the fork into the frame was always another option  :daumenhoch:

I also have an early beartrap 2 , this version has a larger bottom race that has a built in dirt skirt.

It can add a nice bit of detail to a build .

That's true, though for some reason the one I bought I never got round to fitting and then when I found it again a couple of years ago, I stupidly sold it on the Bay for a few quid!  :idiot2:

With the early gen 1 beartrap above it won't let me fit it with the larger bottom race, got to say once it's fitted it protects the bearing from view.
I have a 2 year later beartrap 2 still with the Tange locknut but the bottom race has a standard outer diameter and the dirtskirt fits on that ok.
