Kuwahara pantera, are they schwinn made?

Ive got a frame, that from what i can tell, is around 84/85. it heavily powdered, so the serial is difficult to see, without removing some from the frame. The first letter seems to be an "L", which Ive heard relates to a schwinn serial.
Did kuwi buy the frames in and sticker them up? why bother when they had their own production lines?
Although the frame was low end (169 dollars on the 84 exhibitionist advert) it surprises me that its not tange, or similar.
anyone had any experience with these beasts?

Yep, I think the scamp, another low end kuwi was anlun. it was a bit later though from what i remember. 87ish.....
