anybody used hockley lately
« on: February 12, 2014, 07:08 PM »
ive got 2 sets of bars that need chroming and was wondering what hockley were like these days.ive not used them for about 3 years as id had very mixed results ranging from awesome to an awesome fail.since then ive used a company called Allens in York which is miles from where I am on the south coast but the results are always great, they actually give a fook, problem is their turn around time is about 16 weeks which is why I was pondering using Hockely again, any input appreciated :daumenhoch:

My pal just had a set of Fuchs wheels done there..

Finish is tremendous. Just be clear about what you want and what kind of results you expect...

usually with bars you get a good chrome job as they can get into all the nicks and crannies its frames and stuff which they cant get into it to polish it right I've had 2 sets of bars done and some forks and they were perfect but it was a couple of years since

A friend of mine took in 2 sets of HLT bars with specific instructions not to polish out the stamping. Got them back and the stamping was polished out and the chrome finish was shocking, crinkled effect was not what he wanted.

Yes and he's kicking off big time with them.

I have a frame set in Howells at the minute and have all confidence in them.

I had to go down to Southampton today to pick up a camera so I took the plunge and dropped 2 sets of JMC bars at Hampshire Electroplaters.

We spoke about leaving the definition in the welds and he seemed to know his stuff, explaining where things get tricky in the tight areas etc but he was confident that they'd come up tip top.

He used to own a Rickman so BMX has a place in his heart.

Headlines
£50 + VAT per set
8 weeks turnaround but he hoped to have them ready in 5-6 weeks

I'll update once I get them back  :daumenhoch:

As flip flop above said Chris, me and Phil always drop our stuff in there and they do a great job, pretty quick also.

Last time i was there dropping stuff off, he took me and my son on a guided tour and showed us all the stages of chroming. Was a real eye opener.

They did these a while back mate.
