Can ODI Mushroom grips be dyed, successfully?

I have a NOS but yellowed set of white ODI Mushrooms and wondered if they could be dyed black with no issues.

Has anybody tried dying them at all?

The Mushies on my daughters Kuwie are red ones I dyed black, don't remember her having a problem with dye coming off on her hands, if she did it didn't go on for long.
