Really digging this bike, right up my street. I like the padset too!
The wheels and tyres are fantastic, so is that mirrored chainwheel. Shame about that nick in the seat because that looks really well otherwise. My only gripe on it is the lever and brake, i just dont like canti or v brake set ups on the back of bmx's. Its too mtb. Mabye with some neat cnc'd brake arms and a neater lever it would be more my thing.
Ok im slightly hypocritical on that because i run a true mtb canti on the front on my bike!
Anyway, great work Terry, hope it rides well.  :daumenhoch:

Lovely bike,  :daumenhoch:
Same as Ben though not keen on the brake. Maybe an Odyssey 'A' brake, Squarer shape to match the crank arms. I have a red one I just took off my race bike.  ;)

  Thanks guys, I really appreciate the likes on this build  :daumenhoch:

I bought the DX brake setup purely as I know Shimano are a great product and I really like the lever. The brake works spot on too. I didn't know about the Odyssey 'A' brake but know where you guys are coming from now after 'googling' one.

That does look absolutely stunning Terry ... but is absolutely crying out to have its ass ridden out and get covered in mud  :daumenhoch:

That stem looks shite tho and you need to sell it to me  :daumenhoch:

I've got a red Oddy A brake if you want to try one ( not got the lever tho now )

Just had a look at the magazine scan link I put up, And no listing of the A brake in September 1998 dans comp.
But listed in Jan 99 issue.

Don't like the a-brake either. It needs some classy, low-profile vintage road canti brakes, or a Paul's one or something like that. Not brightly coloured and chunky.

Thanks Gaz. Far too late for the build to be honest but thanks for the offer Ed  :daumenhoch:

I did think about using a canti brake but couldn't find any that one fitted to it on the Museum for reference, in fact, there is only 7 '94's on there, mine being one and 3 being 24's, most incomplete builds.

I didn't want to go down the Paul brake route either. Too 'blingy' and too new.

I will agree that I am not sure on the 'A' brake either though  :D

i think the brakes are the only mute point you seem drawn to them straight away,  i think they need to be more subtle , maybe if the dx's we polished rather than painted they might not look out of place?

i don't think a set of Pauls would look wrong either , again just plain ,  Kastans are a bit of bespoke (or even quirky) bike , so something seemingly unusual brake wise might fit ?

overall though  :4_17_5:  love it  :daumenhoch:

That's one mighty fine rear end you have there Terry  :-*  Love the squareback look  :smitten:

I can see where the lads are coming from on the rear brake but i can't offer any advice as i ain't got a clue  :D

Really nice bike though  :daumenhoch:

Wise words Jim. Nothings too bling for a Kastan. Ok, mabye diamond valve caps are a step too far.
