What was your first build? 10 years of RADBMX celebrations
« on: January 29, 2014, 10:34 PM »
OK so seeing as RADBMX is 10 years old this year, I was wondering what your first build was when getting back into this sport/hobby.

It can be your first one on RADBMX or your first build back on the scene.

Just one build please not your favourite etc, just your first.

Oh and for a laugh (or to make you cry), for those that built that 1st build a long time ago near the beginning of this site, how much did it cost you?

I will start.

This is my very first build when getting back into BMX, 1984 Skyway T/A which cost me the following:  Frame & Forks £50.00, flight cranks £40, MX1000's front and rear £20.

I built this 2004, I'd had a MK1 Extra Burner in 83' and never thought I'd have another 21 years later.

Discovered RADBMX and a place called RUDEWHEELS...

Mk1 Extra Burner (with the addition of Skyway Tuff II's).

Been restoring, collecting and researching all things Raleigh Burner ever since... (with odd Robinson Amtrac thrown in).

Great idea!

First old school build was in 2008 - Haro Group 1 RS1 Custom

Just in time for MK08 and the novice race!

First old school bike shop find happened just before that - wish I'd never traded this to Dom  :2funny::

I had no idea how rare this ZL was when I bought it all those years ago, I just wanted a CW to satisfy an itch to own one. At the time I was buying all sorts of random things I never owned as a kid, stuff like Game and Watches, Pocketeers, Action man training tower, you get the gist, all in I think it was £180 with a Stretch Monster
