rider brake pads
« on: January 27, 2014, 02:46 PM »
All,

I'm in the middle of finishing off this year's build (Grail 83 Kuwi Laserlite bought off of Stu27 here: http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,164979.msg1649299.html#msg1649299) which will be a rider for the summer months.

I'm not wanting to trash the shiny side's so can anyone recommend some brake pads that'll be good for a bit of 'sedate' riding without leaving too much in the way of marks (I'm thinking along the lines of a clear pad?) on them luverly rims....

Pics to follow once I've made a few subtle mods so as not to offend Stu, but to still make it my own...   ;)

Can't help you with suggestions but can't wait to see pics of the completed build as I'm in the middle of doing the same, though yours looks in much better nick than mine!

Id just go for some brown diacomp pads. They work well and don't mark that much

Just had a read of your laserlite post up above. Looks great fella, so make sure you post some nice piccies once she's built. I just need a gold mx1000/tech 3 combi  (f/r) and an izumi chain. All this lot will be repop as she'll be a rider for now..

Final build will be as follows:

Frame/Forks: Tange made KZ83 (oval tubes but no Kuwahara stamp on the rear dropout, has one on the rear brake bridge though)
Bars: Stamped Kuwi Laserbars
Post: Stamped Kuwi Laserpost
Rims: Gold Araya shiny sides (1.75 f & r)
Hubs: Gold Suzue
Tyres:  Mitsuboshi Comp III Green Label (1.50 f & r)
Cranks: Suntour VX with Gold Suntour chainring
Pedals: Black Suntour XC2 (for special occasions) and Gold KKT AMX (for riding)
Stem - Gold Suntour Power Stem
Seat Clamp - Suntour
Grips - Yellow Oakley B2
Seat - Yellow Elina Lightning Bolt
Pads - White Kuwahara (Cali Lite)
Plate - Yellow Haro Series One

Should be done for the spring.....
