Help!! looking at NS bikes..
« on: January 18, 2014, 08:28 AM »
Hello fellas,

I'm wanting to get a new ride to chip around on but I really don't know anything about NS bikes. I don't want anything spectacular, hoping to spend less than £200 on a used one. I'm 6ft 2 so I'm guessing ill be wanting around a 21"TT?? Are Haro's worth avoiding as I read bad things about them..I've seen a decent looking 400.2 for sale. Any guidance appreciated :)

I'll give you the same advice I was given when looking for a NS ride,

Go and ride a few bikes if you can, to get a feel for what you like  :daumenhoch:

I tried a couple at a LBS, and a couple at the local skatepark, found one I enjoyed riding  :daumenhoch:

Don't know anything about the Haro tho....

You should be able to find a good 2nd hand complete on eBay for around £200, look for ones that are collection only near to you, these always go for a lot less than ones that will post.

Have a look out for we the people, they make good completes & there are quite a lot of them about.

Thanks guys. I'll try and get down the local skatepark and see what's what. I hope the riders don't bite like the rest of the little sh*tes around here ;D
I'll get scanning for local-ish bikes.  8)..........my missus is gonna kill me if she finds another bike.!! Ah well, f*ck it!! ;D

There's a bike I've seen just now with all its reflectors and plastic chainguard still on so obviously has never seen a skatepark.
Ill have to discipline myself and not rush in and just wait for the right bikes to pop up.

The Haro 400 .2 is a great bike   :daumenhoch:

In my shed there is a  2011 model 350.1 ,  a 2011 model 500.3 and a  2012 chrome 000  :smitten: , all of which ride lovely and will stand up to much more than we can throw at them , can't understand why there is so much negativity towards them. i saved loads on each of them by getting the previous years models on offers from shops on ebay , there are lots of good deals to be had , get looking !

Remember they are not OS bikes and will ride differently , but you will soon get used to them . :slayer:

Remember also that we arent teenagers anymore , so take it steady !
With Bacofoil and a Battering Ram !

Thanks, that's great info on Haro's, I do like the look of them.  I'm just wanting a bike to run down the shops on and to ride along side my 5yo as he's still a bit wobbly on his bike. I'm not going to use it properly, there's no way I could afford time off work.

So I managed to get a go on a couple of bikes recently although none were 21tt. They did feel a little weird at first and a lot lighter than I've ever been used to.
I missed out on the Haro i liked but got this WTP justice instead 20.5tt. Paid a ton for it and its in good shape. Mostly 1020 but a few bits of 4130. The seller was a mum who was fed up with her 15yo going through fads and then throwing stuff in the corner to rot hence why I now own it.:))

It was too cheap to pass up, 2012 model too. Although the cranks and bars have a smoked/black chrome effect which is wearing thin in parts and the regular chrome is coming through. I'll probably have a go at getting it all off.

Priv...thats exactly what I've brought this for although I'm a bit heavier now so if I find its all too much I'll probably just move it on.
