Time for a new MTB I think ?
« on: January 07, 2014, 07:27 PM »
As per the title. I am thinking of getting back into the MTB scene and hitting the trails again with the lads.

Presently running a 2009 Jamis Dakota Elite XC HT with some upgrades that I have had now for 2.5 years ( from new) and it's done me proud and been kept mint.

I am thinking now going to a kind off trail centre full Sus Enduro bike say 140-160mm travel set up.  :-\

Since hitting the big 40 sadly my eye sight is not what it once was and will not focus as quick so I feel less confident blasting around and down descents as quick as I used too, I am thinking a full susser might help me rather than getting battered around on the HT...  :-\

The Jamis was about £1390 new and nay look to sell her on now to part fund the replacement  bike, full kenisium alloy frame with Carbon fibre stays at on rear end and the FOX float RL upfront and a Shimano  XL group set, very very lightweight bike.

What's your thoughts guys on a bike, I am 6'1" so not to compact a rider...  "help"

Me too  :-[

As for MTBs. I'm thinking of getting another one, they all seem to have gone to 27.5 or 29 wheels  now :-\

I think I'm going to get the Lapierre Zesty 27.5 with 140 mm travel  :smitten:

Maybe try a Trek or Specialized (lifetime frame warranty).
If you wanted to try something a bit special consider Intense or Santa Cruz. The Intense SS is superb.
You could also try a Transition...

I've had both of those an 05 Specialized Stuntjumper FSR & an 09 Trek Remedy 8, both good bikes, but I wasn't that impressed with this years Trek line up. I'm also a big cannondale fan & have had three over the years so maybe I will look at them..

I just really liked the spec & looks of the Lapierre Zesty, but haven't tried anything yet, it's been a bit to wet  :(
