Right guys, being old school i don't have a clue about new school.....

But a new school build is on the cards for next year, i think i've narrowed my choice of frames down.

So, Mankind New World, Proper TTL or Bonedeth Colt 45 seem to have pretty good reviews, anyone riding these?

if you think Old school is expensive then wait till you price up a custom new school

Not as exciting but i'd either go for a good second hand or have a word with Stodgy at the RAD shop for a nice complete and upgrade as you go.

defo go for second hand ,to start with a least , its like learning to ride again going from os to ns, big investment if you don't get on with ns, go for a few years old too anything from about 2009 onwards is going to be more or less similar spec to new ones re frame angles/tube type etc , clearance section in the tinterweb shops are always a good place to start , can scoop some real bargains, you can always repaint stuff

as an example only, this one has cost me not much more than one of those big momma/big daddy pos , little bit of fiddling involved, rides nice , light weight, good science

not wishing to assume cash is an issue of course

we've all seen the £2000 ornament sat under the pie muncher

Whatever you do - first things first is go to an LBS and have a test ride on some of their bikes. There's no point in getting a frame that's either too short/you don't like the stand-over height/the headtubes too whippy for you. You'll have a nightmare if the frame's not to your liking as it'll put you off riding it. If the frame fits, it's so much easier to learn on. Also if you're a taller gent consider getting a 22".

Have a go on a few, then you'll know what TT length/standover etc you like. Then go find the fecker second hand to be honest. You can pick up £400 frames secondhand over on BMX Forums/PinkBike for waay less than half their OG cost, and hubs/wheels/bars etc. Only thing you need to buy new are tyres, tubes, grips.

Lee, your Sport is a 20" tt. You'd be surprised and probably need a 20.75" with a bit taller than Spen-end (cue jokes from Ed and the rest of the suspects) - 14" max. Ed has a Supercross with a 13.25" rear and it's a world of difference when you want to 180º or 360º it.

Get to a rad event and ride everyone else's bikes to see what feels most comfortable then buy a second hand one and learn how to ride all over again

Well...popped down the local skate park today, and managed to persuade one of the yoofs for a go on his bike....had to give him the keys to my van and everything

Federal ( i think ) twilight, not bad, just need to try others to compare it to.

That S&M does look nice Spen...timing

I ride a proper ttl, and is prob the best feeling bike I've had to date, but has a Spanish bb I don't like how they flex so I will be getting somthing custom in the next year or so! Defo get a ns tho the old schools are pants to ride on ramps!!

couple of the local street monkeys ride em , seem to be holding up to their abuse, apparently the early ones were prone to cracks but suppose they will dropping of 10ft roofs in the winter

just a quote that , from some of the local street riders, i can't speak from experience, didn't ask what the models were, but i wouldn't take it as bad thing , the current gear looks quality

i've seen some of the frames when these kids are finished with em and you wonder how they're still in one piece
