1992 S&M Dirt Bike after 21 years in the loft
« on: December 22, 2013, 11:23 PM »
My old S&M Dirt Bike that I raced 17ex back in 1992 has been sat in my parents loft for 21 years.

Doesn't look too bad in the photos but not so good in the flesh.

It has got odd wheels as the rear Sun rim buckled doing a 360 over Bournemouth BMX track camel :'(

The bike is now stripped and the clean up and rebuild has started.

I'm going to rebuild as a rider not a show pony so keeping the OG paint, chrome and stickers as best as I can.

S&M slam bars with Jive grips

DK pro xl stem

Replaced the ACS boa with the original Odyssey pit bull that was on the bike at the original build

Cheers for the great feedback guys, this is the first of 6 of my race bikes that i still have in the loft. I thought i would start with the S&M as it's the most complete and the least valuable of the collection to practise on.

Poole Panthers, i take it your Matt if so either you or Mick Whitlock built the Bullseye Mistral rims for me. The chrome Ukai is quite corroded but i would be more than happy to do a swap if not i would be interested in buying the rim. Long term plan the Sun rims will be going back onto my CW promotion that they came off.

Everything on the bike came from Hotwheels BMX.

Well nice that  :daumenhoch:

Watched my mate about 20 years ago put his front teeth through his bottom lip on that very same part of the track  :)

Least valuable - prices are going up for those. Them bulleye's are not cheap either.

Great bike, just do not over do the resto. Keep it true.  ;)

Impressive detective work! Yes, there's a pretty good chance I built the wheels all those years ago. I'll check  for sure on the Mistral rim on Friday and get back to you. Great bike by the way.....
