Repops, copies and fakes

I try not to go with repo for an old school bike. I would rather use cheap parts from Lander or Formos.

However if I built a re-issue Skyway for example, I would only want to use repo parts. They would be from the same era.

Try to keep things date correct

If it wasn't for re pop or re issue etc etc 90% of bikes on here wouldn't have decals. I love genuine and have heaps of it but when you can't get exactly what you need and repo is the only alternative your options become limited.

Reproduction stuff is fine in my eyes
As long as its the same or near as .
Example mx 1000 s alloy is alloy
Same now as back in the 80s
Probably even  better bar a date .
Which cant be seen when  on a bike  ?

Sometimes re-pops fakes etc are the only way when you think about it (pads decals tyres seats grips cables DC stuff etc) really doesn't bother me at all.

I bought this last week (brand new from OZ)  & it came today. I never knew until i was put on to this guy that these were available ( unfortunately  ) it just doesn't suit my build so its in the for sale section now (Plug plug) ..... Bloody lovely though not & cheap either as its a feels a quality part.

The chap even mentions that it might be a repop in the listing (which it clearly IS) and still some muppet has paid $415 for a fake seat post

it would be handy if someone started a thread about how to spot the difference between genuine and repo stuff.

i nearly got turned over a few years back on a set of aerospeeds luckily i got tipped off

You cant talk......those Aerospeedo's you were wearing in Darwen baths clearly had repro iron on decals applied deffo not real
