Author Topic: TA build slowly getting there......... any thoughts? (Read 1492 times)

OK, here's where I'm at so far (Ignore the random blue grip, the shitty powder, the decals that are being replaced with a custom black and red set to match the custom pads and the power bars that might be replaced with some other chrome loveliness) - the wheels, tyres, stem, MX900 etc are all stopping, despite the fact they were all destined, or taken off other builds.

This build looks nothing like I envisaged. I've chopped and changed with every crank set, chain wheel and bolt set I have and think the CT with black ring and chrome bolts works........ Brake cables - believe it or not, might go red having tried black and white as well and as yet are undecided whether or not to stick a front brake on it.

I also built it with a white lightning bolt and red SR laprade post, but it doesn't quite work....... I've tried red 901s, white and black MX1000, black tuffs, red tuffs, white tuffs, Z rims.........

Any thoughts on the oxblood jaguar seat and tange grips (I know the grip is on upside down before anyone comments........)

I thought as much with the black seat......... I don't like to talk about the Skyway bars. They caused all the mither in the first place - I'm just not feeling the love for them. Too much white.

It's a tricky one, as whatever you do to a TA they generally all look the same as another TA. They're either chrome or white and the parts you use have already been used elsewhere.
I prefer the black seat though and i'm liking your use of white rims and hubs.

One day someone will build a Skyway in another colour. I remember a few years back someone done a black one and it didn't look wrong.

love the black seat - prefer the spokes, prefer the 3 piece, prefer the mx1000 in silver.

TA's have enough colour in the decals and padset, the rest should be neutral in my opinion and I would go black and silver/chrome all day long with the bits.

As the powder needs re doing I did consider going the gunmetal grey colour - there's a DP that I've seen in grey and white that is gorgeous. I'm in too deep parts wise to start again, but might go for matt white powder rather than high gloss.

White seat (can't be arsed to put the red post back, use your imagination.......)

You see, that was my original plan G and H - I even have the white bubble font Ame tri ready to go. I'll put them on tomorrow just to be sure......

Sounds like you need Chill

Take a deep breath & step back buddy 9 times out of 10 if i decide to change a build mid way i'll (ALWAYS) end up stopping & then going back to the original idea again & it will always be the best way forward.

Build what you want , nothing else matters as you're never going to be able to please everyone so make sure you please yourself.

I had a similar problem with a Patterson PR200 it was only the seat n grips,the yellow didn't match,got p!ssed off,never got built

That's my plan for the ball burnished ripper......... I think it needs some black to break things up? I tried a white DC clamp and it just disappeared. White chain ring just looked wrong. I might give it a try with white grips first, then the full white treatment. I'll post pics when I'm done.

Chrome / silver clamp, post, stem, bars, wheels (or your white rims), pedals, cranks, chain wheel, headset, brake, lever, white f/f, seat, grips and cable...

Simple, clean, a little unorthodox and very cool...
