Hello from a Newbie (Please be gentle)
« on: November 10, 2013, 08:06 PM »
Ok, Hi i'm Jussa, been into the Retro MTB scene for a while, racing some proper Oldschool MTB's, but just getting back into BMX's, let me start with a little background on me and my love of BMX's. Before I joined the RAF (1988) i worked at a local bike shop (Cutmoore's Cycles, Rushden, N'thants 1984-88) now sadly long closed down. It was a great way to learn how to build bikes, service them and also to sell them to the customer. The shop itself was well stocked with many branded names, Dawes, Elswick, Raleigh, but unfortunately lacked in the popular BMX brands from BITD. Luckily for me the nearby town of Wellingborough had such a specialist shop 'Mike Jeff's BMX' from HARO, Mongoose, DP, Falcon, SE Racing & Redline it had loads of top branded bikes. Now over the years I owned several of these bikes and lusted over a lot more. Like all hobbies and interests as i grew my bikes were sold on to provide much needed money for Motorcycles and Drink and Girls [wink] The tragic thing is I sold them for peanuts, practically giving them away. I did however always say I would have another one, yes even at the ripe old age of 43. I will not be able to get myself an original at this moment in time so my aim is to build my own 80's oldschool BMX in Homage to one of the greatest names in BMX. Guess i will post that on another thread ;)

Anyway great to be here and look forward to seeing whats happening  :)

Nice one, currently at Valley (Booo!) on SAR as a Winchman/RadOp instructor. 21 years down.
The venerable Sea King is on short finals so who knows what the future brings!

There are a few RAF ex RAF chaps on here.  I left about 2 years ago.  I was a rigger and did 23 1/2 years for my sins.  Do you work with Chris Foot down there at Marham

I have been collecting old school BMXs for about 4 years or so and love the getting to go on the rides and the general childishness of it all.

Welcome to Rad :daumenhoch:
