The future of our hobby (maybe)
« on: August 10, 2006, 07:27 AM »
I was asked if i ride some of my rides.  of course I do.  went out with the kids today.  They know the history of Dave Clinton and the Kawasaki

They have been waiting for a chance to ride it.  today was the day.

Patrick was first

and of course, Reilley wanted to get in on the action.

Both of them have met Dave and some of the other legendary cats like Takahashi, Twomey, Byronous etc and they have a keen sense of BMX history already.

For those of you who have wondered what is going to happen to the collecting hobby, well, i think it will be alive and well long after we're gone.

Good point mate

its the jump from collectors who rode BITD to people who didn't

its the only way a collectable thing carrys on, and does not die with the original collectors

For what its worth the Burner has already jumped the generations , as some of the burner boys are pretty young and never had a BMX in the 80s , hell some of them were not even born in the 80s

it will be intersting to see if it happens with all the other makes

My nephew (12) Came all the way down from yorkshire to London then up to MK to race with us (his first) in the old school race on my MCS...He loved every minute, he is now in the shed working on two bikes given to him at MK (Thanks to that person)
So I think he is a convert....
Reilley you have some great bikes and Its great to see you dont just "hang them on the wall"like so many others, I believe they should be ridden, with respect, but ridden.... :4_17_5:

Agreed, I am nearing, still, the completion of an MRD mini for my lad. He's got a Mirra 360 for the garden, but I'd like to take him over to Braintree to have a run on the os bike.
