Kuwahara laserlite
« on: November 06, 2013, 02:57 PM »
Hi there, am a new member on here so be patient....shit with computers !!!, some questions about my second project, 1983 Kuwi laserlite, first ive seen a few pics of different laserlites and the cranks are either one piece Sugino, Sugino 3 piece or Redline flite cranks what was the standard one when new ?, second question is headset, i want to fit a Tange mx2 in black, would i still be able to fit the Suntour lock nut on to that headset or would i need to go for the ....... silly money Hatta ?
Cheers
Steve

Hey buddy, welcome to Rad  :daumenhoch:

Firstly, you should be able to use the Suntour lock on your MX-2 headset. I have Suntour lock and MX-2 on my Exhibitionist but I had to use a Tange headlock washer.

Crank wise, are you building a shop/magazine spec model?

This should help you  :)

Great choice of bike to build, they are lovely riders!

Didn't they come with Sugino 400s in the UK.

Rich did a nice build a few years back, there is some good info on there:

Superb guys, was thinking of the one piece like the pic, i think ill keep it as close to shop spec as poss, ive got new black ACS Zs to go on that have just been laced up on to original ACS hubs with comp 3 tires, and got Del to make up some new rim decals, so hope it comes out well  :)

Good choice a one piece crank will also save you about £300 - £400 too.
