Z Rim Split
« on: November 03, 2013, 10:06 AM »
Gotta Z rim with a split, maybe an inch and a half, anyone ever tried to do a repair, it will go on a show pony, so might just try to hide ?

Cheers

I don't think it melts to form the 2 sides together,  I tried it once with a heat gun and it just blistered,  I would say pony only unless your prepared to really fook it up....   ;)

Clean the split and slide in a little epoxy and nip up with a G clamp  ;)
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

Are they Nylon? Its a thermoplastic and generally the only way of bonding it is fusing it with heat. Getting the right temp to fuse and not melt though could be tricky  :(
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

Send it me Nick, I have some glue at work that fuses plastics together. It dries totally clear and I inject it so less chance if damaging the rim getting enough in to bond it together.  ;)

I reckon the best way to fix it is to organise a prayer group and start praying  :LolLolLolLol:
